Will be offered again in 2009. Please let us know if you're interested and we will let you know when we are scheduling more of these classes!
the details on all these events...
On the last Friday evening of the month, Northwest Singles get together to talk over the single life
in Portland, and discuss skills and strategies for sane dating and relationships.
This event is for singles seeking healthy relationships. The usual charge is $10.
Here's the format of the event:
We start the evening with an ice-breaker activity to give you a chance to get to know each other and get comfortable.
We do encourage you to try to arrive on time, so you can participate in the opening activity!
Then we have an interactive, lively presentation by one of our staff, or a guest speaker, and we have discussion time built in. You'll
get valuable information to make dating easier and more fun, like:
- initiating conversations
- how to be gracious and approachable with "small talk"
- reading body language
- pacing yourself with dating, and dealing with burnout and discouragement
- where to go on a date
- how to stop choosing the wrong partner and what to look for in Mr./Ms. Right
We also have compiled numerous resources about the Portland community, and we'd love to help you get connected to like-minded people if you're new to town, or just haven't been socially active in a while due to work or family obligations, and are just wondering how best to connect with other singles in Portland.
We meet at the 1235 Creative Center, at 1235 SE Division, Portland, Oregon. The event happens from 7:00-8:30 pm,
and the fee is $10 for the evening.
You're welcome to get in touch with us if you have questions, or just wonder
if the event is right for you.
We usually get a good-sized group, with a pretty even balance of men and women. Age range tends to be 30+ but we often get a sprinkling of people who are younger- all are welcome. It's a community event so there's no obligation to attend regularly, you can just come by
and visit once if you like.
This is a Community Program of Portland Counseling Center, (although it is not counseling!)

Dating for Grown-ups is a FREE TALK- not scheduled right now but we will offer it again as our staffing permits.
This will be of interest if you're looking for a healthy relationship and are tired of Portland bars, run-of-the-mill singles events and unsuccessful internet dating.
We'll discuss where to meet more quality single people; how to get more dates that may lead to lasting relationship; and explain details of our class, "Creating Lasting Love", further details below.
If you've wondered how to date more successfully, are frustrated with dating, or just aren't sure how to get back into dating in Portland after being single for a while, we encourage you to attend! No obligation, totally free, we just want to share this information with you.
RSVP is encouraged but not required. Contact us at (503) 295-6265 with any questions.
